The Dallas Morning News reported on January 19, 1916, that famous escape artist Harry Houdini visited Dallas and performed before a crowd of about 10,000 people. Houdini donned a straitjacket and was hung upside down from a news building. While hanging upside down, about 50 feet in the air, Houdini escaped from the jacket in about 2 minutes and 15 seconds!
